Toned paper art
These are the results of my recent obsession with drawing on brown toned paper. The idea is simple, the sketches have got to be purely traditional, with no help from the computer and the luxury that the Undo option provides and to keep getting better at it with each new sketch.
A black cat named Thirteen
This one was drawn on Friday the 13th of July. I drew this based on a sketch I had drawn
earlier of a black cat named Thirteen. I really liked the feel of sketching on toned paper and
this is the sketch that started the series for me.
Cosmic Wolf
Continuing my newfound obsession with drawing on toned paper, I knew I wanted to draw a
cosmic wolf. I found my inspiration from a pic clicked by @ohlephotos . I used two punched
out post-its for the glowing, yellow eyes. And a white gel pen to draw the stars and the clouds
beneath.
The harbinger of dawn.

pencils another try and I love how they look on toned paper!
American Horse
This one's been one of the more challenging sketches of the ongoing series so far. I have
forever avoided drawing a horse, it seems like such a tough anatomy to practice, no surprise
why so many artists choose to draw them. And how can I resist drawing the monument valley
as the backdrop for such a majestic creature?
Mandrill
Here's my sketch of a Mandrill, which is a beautiful species of monkeys found in the
tropical rainforests of southern Cameroon.
Drawing this was a lot of fun because of the thick fur and vibrant colours on it's face.

Markhor
This is a mixed media artwork I made of the Markhor, a wild goat found in the mountainous
regions of central Asia. I was really drawn to make this artwork because of it's majestic
animal because of it's unique horns and thick fur, drawing those with the micron pen was great.
Instead of drawing the rest of the body with the same technique, I decided to draw the mountains
which are it's habitat.
Blue Morpho
About time I drew something pretty. Drawing this one was something new for me because of
its symmetry, but @be_the_queen_bee convinced me by talking endlessly about the blue
butterfly and synchronicity. (Wow, all of that rhymed.)
Golden Scarab
This is quite a different one for me, since it's the first time I've made an artwork with papercutting
and using acrylic paint. That being said, a change of technique always excites me and this was challenging, but a lot of fun to make.
